The problem

Game prices in the Pakistan region were significantly high, and due to rising inflation, many players were unable to afford expensive titles, limiting access to gaming for a large portion of the community.

The solution

I identified an opportunity to create a dedicated platform that offers games at localized pricing, making them more accessible and affordable for users in Pakistan. The goal was to provide a solution tailored to the purchasing power of the local gaming community. To develop the platform, I adopted the Agile methodology because it allowed continuous improvement and iterative development throughout the project lifecycle. While the core requirements were clearly defined from the beginning, Agile provided the flexibility to introduce and refine additional features over time based on future needs and platform growth. During the initial stages of development, I was not fully familiar with software design patterns and architectural principles. However, as my understanding evolved, I refactored and redesigned the application by applying SOLID principles, which significantly improved the maintainability, scalability, and overall structure of the system.

The outcome

The project successfully addressed the issue of expensive game pricing in Pakistan by creating a platform focused on localized and affordable pricing for Pakistani users. The platform was designed to improve accessibility for gamers who were heavily affected by inflation and high international game prices. Through the use of Agile methodology, the application was developed in an iterative and scalable manner, allowing continuous improvements and future feature expansion without affecting the core architecture. This approach helped maintain flexibility during development and supported long-term product growth. One of the biggest outcomes of the project was the improvement in the overall software architecture. As my experience evolved throughout development, I refactored the application using SOLID principles, resulting in a cleaner code structure, improved maintainability, and better scalability for future development. The project also contributed significantly to my growth as a developer by strengthening my understanding of system design, scalable architecture, and real-world product development workflows.

Lessons learned

This project taught me the importance of building software with scalability and maintainability in mind from the early stages of development. Initially, my focus was mainly on implementing features quickly, but over time I realized the value of clean architecture and structured code organization. One of the key lessons I learned was the practical importance of SOLID principles and how they improve code readability, reusability, and long-term maintainability. Refactoring the project helped me better understand how professional applications are structured and managed. I also gained hands-on experience with Agile development practices, particularly the value of iterative improvement and continuous feature enhancement. Even when requirements are clear, software products continue evolving, and Agile helped me adapt the application for future growth. Additionally, the project improved my problem-solving skills and taught me how to design solutions around real-world user challenges, such as regional pricing and accessibility concerns within the Pakistani gaming market.
